I have been doing a lot of writing recently, mainly because I have been stuck in my house unable to go anywhere after my surgery. :)

I've been asked to write about 'why I do what I do'...which was so strange to me. My immediate answer was 'Well I do what I do because I heard about the monstrosity that is the sex trade that was going on in this world and God gave me the passion to combat it." But as I have continued to think and to write, I've been reading a lot about the abolitionists of the past. I love reading about their passion, their energy. I love quotes by William Wilberforce and Frederick Douglass.

And it is so true. I know from my own experience that I feel most loved when someone makes eye contact with me and tells me that I matter, that I am someone's beloved. I know that we are to feed the poor, I know that we are to provide aid, I know that we are to free the slaves, but nothing is more beautiful than being looked in the eye, being held, being given value and a new name. And that's what Christ is all about. He is the God that renames us. He is the God that cares. He is the God that writes love letters to us. I am honored to be doing 'what I do', because every day I wake up being reminded that just as I am loved, I am to love. Just as I am pursued, I am to pursue. Just as I was set free by Jesus, we are to proclaim His name and set captives free.
